2014 Race Challenges Summary

16 races event joined this year!

Highlights:

  • Bought a Time Trial (TT) bike for triathlon event
  • Started learning how to swim this year from March
  • Year of my triathlon debut
  • Joined the following TRI events:
    • 1 sprint distance (S-750m; B -20K; R-5K)
    • 2 Olympic distance (S-1.5K; B -40K; R-10K)
    • 3 half ironman distance (S-1.9K; B -90K; R-21K)
      • All overseas events
  • 4 full marathon
    • 2 overseas (Guam and Honolulu)
    • 2 domestic (Kyoto and Chiba Aqualine)
  • Joined an open water swim (OWS) for the first time at the Ocean
  • Joined a 30K trail run for the first time.
  • Participated in an Olympic distance triathlon relay as swimmer
  • 1 half marathon and 30K run event

A glimpse of training and racing mileage logs:

  • Swim mileage at high; joined the Lumina swim squad from Mar-end.
  • Got the TT bike this year and started to log mileage between training and races.
  • Put more mileage into running getting used with “bike-run” brick.

I think I joined too many races this year not optimizing my capability. I have to rethink on this and make sure to create a balance between training, races, and budget for the races, especially the overseas events.
